Training – Online Training

Training is available anywhere in Canada. Typically the training takes place in a group setting with up to 16 participants. There may be additional logistical requirements that can be discussed as the workshops are confirmed.

Understanding Palm Prints and Phalangeal Impressions (Basic) – Workshop (8 hours)

The class will participate in a hands-on sessions where they will learn to analyze and recognize;

  • The Regions of the palm
  • The Major creases of the palm
  • Level One Ridge flow of the palm (L1D)
  • Latent Palm shapes
  • Phalangeal Impressions

Students will apply and demonstrate that knowledge throughout the day in a group setting with many exercises.  They will each present their findings to the group. The goal is to improve both their confidence and their competence.

  • There are no prerequisites for this workshop. Anyone will benefit and should be able to participate.
  • A magnifier of some sort will be beneficial.

This course has been approved as an 8 hour credit towards IAI latent print certification or re-certification.

Intermediate Palm Analysis – Workshop (8 hours)

Building on the knowledge and skills in the basic class the group will now develop new knowledge and a deeper understanding of;

  • Crease development and path
  • Major flexion creases
  • Minor flexion creases
  • Secondary flexion creases
  • Intermediate Level One Ridge Flow (L1D)

Students will apply and demonstrate that knowledge throughout the day in a group setting with many exercises. The class will begin to understand which creases are more valuable than others, which they can use in their evaluation decisions. They will each present their findings in a group setting.

  • The basic workshop or it’s equivalent is a prerequisite for this workshop.
  • A magnifier of some sort will be beneficial.

This course has been approved as an 8 hour credit towards IAI latent print certification or re-certification.

QQ Fingerprint Analysis

A 3 day workshop called, “Friction Ridge Analysis – A Return to Science” is now available!

This workshop is NOW APPROVED for 24 hour credits towards IAI Latent Print Certification or Recertification! (CLPE)

This workshop will help examiners understand each aspect of the ACE-V process and improve their understanding of the Qualitative-Quantitative assessment process required in friction ridge analysis.

When examiners receive training they can understand their competency naturally improves. The proper use the various levels of friction ridge detail along with GYRO as an annotation system is advocated in this class. By employing the basics properly and documenting the processes throughout their ACE-V process, examiners will be able to to prepare reports in such a way that everyone in the criminal justice system will understand every facet of what they did.

Strangely, documenting their work correctly will save time on their cases and improve their skills in short order.

When examiners understand their ACE-V process better their Court testimony significantly improves.

Any Canadian agency interested in hosting a class will need to guarantee 16 candidates before a course can be run.

If you or your agency is interested in hosting a workshop please contact Shane @ 416-455-2399 or @ sstforensicscdn@gmail.com

If you are a law enforcement agency that is having difficulty with a difficult latent print consider reaching out to SSTForensics to get an independent opinion regarding your evidence.
